Mashovhela Lodge has been short-listed with three others in the Lodge category of this year’s South African Tourism’s Welcome Awards.
Mashovhela Lodge wins Best Lodge in South Africa’s Premier Tourism Awards PDF Print E-mail
Mashovhela Lodge, situated in the Soutpansberg Mountains of South Africa continuous to win major awards and their latest achievement is the winning of the Best Lodge sub-category in this year’s South African Tourism’s Welcome Awards, that was announced last night at this year’s Indaba Travel Trade Exhibition in Durban.

The Welcome Awards recognizes tourism businesses, operations and individuals that not only act as excellent hosts, but also raise the levels of customer service and provide authentic South African experiences.

Ingrid Hahn, Operations Director for Mashovhela Lodge happily states “Just being short-listed for these awards was an honour for us, and I was very excited and delighted that our Lodge is grouped amongst some of the top destinations in South Africa, now having won the award is just fantastic”.

Mashovhela Lodge as already received the highest award in the Wilderness Foundation’s (WILD) Green Leaf Eco- standard, the coveted Gold Leaf Award for its Eco-tourism initiatives and practices as well as winning two categories in last months Bush Banquet – Best Waitrons and Best Food and Wine combinations.

Mashovhela Lodge has been recognized globally for its eco-friendly and responsible tourism ethics and in 2008 was also short-listed and was placed in the top 30 tourism destinations in the world in the Virgin Responsible Tourism Awards.

The lodge, which is sited on a natural heritage site offers an authentic Venda culture experience for their guests which, by the nature of their awards, is complimented by exceptionally high standard of eco-friendly tourism, service and cuisine.

On their reserve is the second most sacred site to Venda people - Mashovhela rock pool, from which the lodge gets its name. Guests of the lodge experience the mythology and magic of this sacred site as well as the option for a full day tour in Venda and to be absorbed by the Venda Culture steeped in legends and filled with water spirits - guardians of hidden lakes and secret burial places.
