Discover one of the most exciting birding regions in southern Africa

With over 540 recorded species, and the majority residents, the Soutpansberg Mountains makes for an all year round birders paradise.

Black Eagles nest in sight of the lodge, whilst other raptors such as Bateleurs, Buzzards and Giant Eagle Owls sore above.

Black-fronted Bush-Shrike, Blue-spotted Wood-Dove, Golden-backed Pytelia, Cape Vulture, 2 subspecies of Peregrine Falcon, Black Stork and the Bat Hawk, all on South Africa's Red Data bird species list, occur in the area.

Lesser found species tend to be easier to see in this area, these include the Pink-throated Twinspot, Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher, Narina Trogon, Purple-crested Lourie and flocks of exquisite Crested Guineafowl.
