Mashovhela Lodge has been short-listed with three others in the Lodge category of this year’s South African Tourism’s Welcome Awards.
The Welcome Awards recognizes tourism businesses, operations and individuals that not only act as excellent hosts, but also raise the levels of customer service and provide authentic South African experiences.
Just being short-listed for these awards is an honour for us, and I am excited and delighted that our Lodge is grouped amongst some of the top destinations in South Africa.
Mashovhela Lodge as already received the highest award in the Wilderness Foundation’s (WILD) Green Leaf Eco- standard, the coveted Gold Leaf Award for its Eco-tourism initiatives and practices.
Apart from offering eco-friendly tourism the lodge, sited on a natural heritage site, offers an authentic Venda culture experience. On the reserve is the second most sacred site to some Venda people in Mashovhela rock pool, from which the lodge gets its name. Guests of the lodge get to experience the mythology and magic of this sacred site as well as have the option do to do a full day tour in Venda to be absorbed by the Venda Culture, steeped in legends, filled with water spirits, guardians of hidden lakes and secret burial places.
Travelers come to South Africa to experience our culture, wildlife and scenic beauty. Owing to our proximity with the Kruger National Park and the Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana, people can experience it all in our area, which also makes us an ideal accommodation option for fans that are supporting teams playing in Polokwane during the 2010 World Cup.
